Hi.  My name is Tom Schauer and I have been a photographer since 1979.  Black and white was my preferred medium then and has become a preference again today for portraits.  But sometimes color makes such a strong statement, like in the photograph above.

Digital has changed the game.  It’s wonderful.  More and more people have cameras that are capable of making amazing photographs.  Unfortunately, it’s not the camera that makes the photograph, it’s the photographer.  So I teach dSLR photography to students throughout the Northwest.

I started with digital in the mid-1990s.  That makes me an experienced photographer.  And experience makes a big difference.  Fun, casual, and contemporary is my style.
